Portable Mamograph PM14
DEVELOPMENT AND PRODUCTION OF A PORTABLE HOME-USE SCREENING MAMMOGRAPHY MACHINE TO PREVENT MAMMARY GLAND TUMOURS
DEVELOPMENT AND PRODUCTION OF A PORTABLE HOME-USE SCREENING MAMMOGRAPHY MACHINE TO PREVENT MAMMARY GLAND TUMOURS
This project was implemented in cooperation with the Electro-Technical Faculty of the University in Saint Petersburg within the 19th challenge of the IraSME network for international cooperation projects and with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic within the OP PIK program.
Mammary gland cancer is one of the most common oncological diseases suffered by women all over the world. This portable electro impedance screening mammography machine is intended for early detection of tumours with suspected mammary gland cancer and can be used by women of all ages by themselves as a tool for an absolutely safe self-screening of their mammary glands.
The design and production of a portable screening mammography machine prototype contained both the sensory (electrode) module, functioning based on the principle of measuring the bioimpedance matrix among 85 gold-plated electrodes at several frequencies, and the data management and processing module, capable of securing a multiple repeated screening of information from the sensory module and transferring such data, through the wireless Bluetooth 4.2 connection, to the evaluation and display the application on the connected PC, laptop, tablet, or smartphone. The power supply of the portable screening mammography machine is secured through accumulator batteries with wireless charging.
The implementation of the project helped develop a machine of very unique qualities, capable of reliably detecting mammary gland tumours of approximately 3 mm and larger. The results of detailed testing on the bioimpedance phantoms confirmed the successful fulfilment of the project goals. Extensive clinical testing and the validation of the device on the actual patients are underway at the moment.
